Frequent Urination

Frequent Urination During the Day

Day time urination is considered normal if a person urinates with an interval of 2-3 hours between feeling that bladder is full again. Frequent urination during the day is characterised by urinating every 30 minutes or even more often. It is not only disturbing and inconvenient for a person but also shows kidneys, adrenal glands and nervous system imbalance.

As a matter of fact, more complaints about day time frequent urination comes from women than men. The wise decision everyone should make is to book an appointment with acupuncturist as soon as possible.

Nonetheless kidneys, adrenal and nervous system are the main causes of these health mishaps, the causes of their dysfunction and impact on the overall health is different. Thus, the health examination with Japanese medical method through palpation of the reflex zones of the patient’s body and acupuncture treatment approach will be different. In both cases acupuncture has a great result in prevention of disease development and preservation of health and well-being state of every patient having such a problem.

Urination at Night – Nocturia

Nocturia is a condition when people feel the urge to urinate at night. After 50-60 y-old some people urinate once, while others are being disturbed quite a few times.

Urinating at Night – Nocturia is characterized by:

Inability to have a quality night sleep and good rest. Feeling exhausted waking up next morning. Night urination even once a night shows specific Kidneys’ weakness, in TCM so-called yin deficiency. Overactive at night time Kidneys give away valuable minerals during night urination and weaken overall bodily bone structure.

Urinating at Night – the Real Story

One time my patient came for his monthly maintenance treatment and said,” Yelena, I am in trouble, I can’t sleep”. I asked him if it was insomnia, and his answer was ‘no’. He said that for the last couple of weeks he was urinating up to 5 times a night. Every 40-60 minutes he felt the urge to urinate again.

He said that he visited his physician to inquire about his current health problem. According to his story, his physician said, ”when we grow old, our urinary bladder is shrinking and becomes unable to contain the same amount of urine as before”. He looked at me and asked me if this was true. I was perplexed for a moment thinking of what I should say.

My patient was 40 years old then… I didn’t feel comfortable to give any comment to affect his relationship with his doctor. I said that I am going to fix his problem now and he will be able to sleep normally.

So, what happened to my patient? During Japanese medical health assessment, I found that his Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS) was too excited affecting health condition of Kidneys and Adrenal glands. By regulating SNS, Kidneys and Adrenal glands’ function the balance of his health was restored. In four weeks, when that patient came for his maintenance treatment, I asked him how he felt after last acupuncture session and he said that he slept normally since his last visit as nothing had ever happened to him.

Clinical Relevance

Frequent urination in most of clinical cases is as symptom rather than illness. By balancing your ANS- Autonomic Nervous System, kidneys and adrenal glands’ function, the root cause of frequent urination either day time or nigh time, acupuncturist is able to normalize your health and well-being. Get more understanding about how to sustain your nervous system balance you can read on the pages 11-53, how to preserve kidneys’ health you can read on the pages 108-122 in my book, Your MindBody Alliance & The Truth About Acupuncture.

Our clinical experience shows that people who are not educated in anatomy and physiology are not aware of how to preserve their health. The lack of knowledge and understanding how mind and body correlate leads people to feel out of control over their own health. Reading this book everyone becomes knowledgeable enough to withstand any body health problem and preserve one’s health.
