Conception

Often women come to clinic with intention to conceive. Sometimes they have a doctor’s diagnosis explaining that there is some health problem, but the most of times there is no clear reason why they can’t conceive.

TCM and Japanese Medicine have different understanding and vision of human body and the reasons that can stop a woman from conceiving. With a course of acupuncture treatments, the goal of becoming pregnant can be accomplished.
According to our clinical experience we helped every woman stepped in with complaint of difficulty to become pregnant.

Besides the ordinary examples, here was a case of a young lady who tried to conceive for few years without result and conceived just after having only three acupuncture visits. There was a case of 43 y-old lady who struggled for more than decade to become pregnant and after ten treatments conceived a baby daughter.

Miscarriage

Often women conceive naturally but loose the baby after few months of pregnancy. There could be multiple reasons for this unfortunate mishap. Constant stress, strong emotional impact, tiredness, lifting heavy objects, falling or having injury. Yet, according to our experience we can say that the majority of women either are Sympathetic nervous system dominant or having weakness in particular organs and systems. For instance, if a woman has weak spleen which function is to nourish and support muscles or liver which job is to nourish ligaments and tendons then, until these organs’ health and function will be improved and strengthened, the nourishing and bearing the baby become an impossible task.

Usually, we heal the body weaknesses and imbalances prior to conception, but if the woman came to clinic already pregnant again after having multiple miscarriages, we have to heal her, strengthen her organs and systems to support the baby inside of the uterus. She thus needs regular treatments monthly, sometimes biweekly or even weekly closer to the day of labor.

The Real Story of Happiness

The woman booked acupuncture appointment with intention to conceive. She had two teen age children she conceived naturally years ago. From her story it became clear that she was able to conceive with IVF twice but miscarried the babies after couple months.

The Japanese body health diagnosis identified quit few health issues and the patient was informed that first – all these issues must be resolved in order to conceive naturally, be able to carry the baby during nine months without complications and give a birth easily. She cooperated and after ten treatments of strengthening and balancing weak organs and system she naturally conceived, had a nice pregnancy and normal labor experience. Her son is a happy, robust boy.

Delivery

Giving a birth is final aspect of fertility. There few, usually overlooked, important things to know.

Breaching the baby

Not many women know that acupuncture can help in breaching the baby. Obstetrician usually offers to a woman only one solution – C-section in a case of having her fetus positioned in uterus any other way than head down facing mother’s back. And in some cases, C-section is absolutely necessary in order to protect mother’s and child’s life and health. Yet often we can see that the C-section was not a necessity and nevertheless doctors don’t call C-section a surgery, it is a surgical procedure. And as a surgical procedure it has consequences.

So, before you agree on having a C-section, it would be a wise decision to ask acupuncturist if it’s possible to assist the fetus turn into head down – the right birth position. It is commonly achieved with help of moxa stick that practitioner holds under a specific point and then teaches the pregnant woman how to do this procedure at home. The woman should know that she is supposed to stop using the moxa stick after the fetus turned in a right position after confirmed with the ultrasound technician.

Labor Induction, The Real Story

There was an acupuncture visit booked with intention to induce the labor. What was a surprise that the patient was a woman who I helped to conceive few years ago in our clinic. She then tried to conceive for couple of years without result and got pregnant after the third acupuncture session.

Now, she was pregnant with a second child and asked me for a labor induction. This case is hard to forget because of our conversation during the acupuncture treatment. I asked the patient how her pregnancy was and she told me how much she suffered from quite few health issues like morning sickness, heartburns, variety of discomforts during both pregnancies, When I asked her why she never asked me if I could help, she was looking at me surprisingly and quietly.

She never thought acupuncture could be that magic stick to help her rid of all those health mishaps. She had only one acupuncture treatment for inducing the labor and I taught her how to continue the procedure at home. After few days, she called me to say thanks for her labor was quick and easy.
